Just what is AOT?
AOT is the way forward
Are you using your AOI investment to
its full capability on inner and outer layer images
?
Are you achieving high 1st-time yields
at ET ?
Are you making the best use of your
CAM data for inspection ?
Do most of your panels pass inspection
without faults ?
If you can't honestly answer YES without
doubt in your mind to any of these questions then it's
time you looked at AOT from Lloyd Doyle.
AOT is a new concept; it brings the following benefits:
- It combines the inspection process
with ET fault detection logic and data preparation
- It gives full inspection capability
on any type of circuit image whether your application
be inner layers or power/ground layers or even the
most complex outer layer images
- It gives higher yields at ET
- It allows efficient use of CAM data
on all image types
- It gives viable inspection results
with all faults detected and NO FALSE ALARMS!
Just imagine how this could improve your
Inspection performance.

A new approach to the Inspection
of PCBs combining Optical Scanning and Test machine
fault detection logic
Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI) systems
have long been used as the tool for sorting good PCB
layers from bad ones.
Unfortunately, conventional AOI systems
have been dogged with the inability to distinguish real
alarms from false alarms. This is largely due
to the fact that the logic system that they use is based
on either design rules or feature recognition and not
on any functional reference of the panel.
AOT systems start from the basis of
knowing the correct connectivity of the layers under
inspection, this sets it apart from AOI. This
is the fundamental difference between AOT and AOI.
AOT is the logical step forward for
optical inspection. It brings together the process
of inspection and electrical test. AOT gives the
manufacturer the chance to use the same integrated database
for both inspection and test; data can beprepared for
both electrical test and the AOT system on the same
CAM station using the same issue files and the same
connectivity data generation parameters.
Just imagine how this could improve your
Inspection performance.
