About Lloyd Doylemotherboard

Lloyd Doyle design, manufacture and supply automatic optical inspection, test and scanning solutions to the electronics and associated industries. Founded in 1982, they have maintained a solid growth pattern throughout the last decade and now supply their equipment to many of the worlds leading pcb manufacturers.

Lloyd Doyle is based in Surrey, UK where the research and development, design, manufacturing and after sales support is managed. At this location the company employs leading industry scientists, dedicated design teams and support personnel in addition to the company administration staff. Further Lloyd Doyle facilities placed strategically at the heart of the pcb manufacturing centers around the world provide support, demonstration and sales on a local basis.

History

Lloyd Doyle was founded by Roy Lloyd and Dr Keith Doyle in 1982 to supply industrial automation products with an optical and electronic bias. The first products applicable to pcb fault detection were brought to the market in 1986 as TRACKSCAN - reflective light based optical test systems.

Development of these products over the next 8 years brought the TRACKSCAN 4000 model to the market which provided state of the art optical test for the pcb manufacturing industry in the early 1990s.

A step change in technology in 1994 gave rise to the EXCALIBUR range of systems which brought higher scan speeds at the same time as higher resolution, and opened up the high-volume sector of the market to Lloyd Doyle. EXCALIBUR has been continually developed and today provides the most cost effective way of finding faults on pcb layers.

Developments this decade have seen the release of redline and phasor which offer a different approach to pcb imaging than that of EXCALIBUR, but with the same high level of fault detection. redline systems have become the most popular units for general pcb manufacturing with phasor and EXCALIBUR being favoured by specialist maufacturers.

A range of repair stations complement the range of test systems to give maximum flexibility.

The release of IBIS marked a new chapter for Lloyd Doyle breaking into the Integrated Circuit manufacturing base offering high speed 2D and 3D inspection and measurement of solder bumps used for IC packaging. IBIS brings the high accuracy of 3D measurement using an interferometer and combines this with massively parallel data processing to give quick cycle times.

Yet more recent developments have seen the relase of a high speed laser scanner for surface profile measurments for general industrial applications. An innovative approach to this task sees the Omniscan laser scanner providing accurate surface profile information at high speed.

Whichever product range takes your interest, Lloyd Doyle can provide a solution.
